BACKGROUND
Sandra’s
House opened its doors for the first
three day pastor training course in
September 2001. Pastor Miguel Luna
joined the Sandra’s House training
team in 2003 and over fifty Video Bible Schools (VBS)
of three hours each week now
provide Bible study to over 500
people. The VBS program developed by
the International School of
Ministers is fifteen months long
with the classes meeting once a week
for three hours. There are six
workbooks for each student and other
suggested support for equipping
pastors and church leaders. Sandra’s
House pastor training is coordinated
with local churches within eight
denominations. The VBS Ministry has
expanded from Quantana Roo to other
states in Mexico - Yucatan and
Campeche. One of the denominations
in the state of Tabasco has asked
for assistance with the Video Bible
Schools. There are in excess of
1,500 Mayan villages on the Yucatan
Peninsula and Sandra’s House
desires to reach all of them with a
Video Bible School.
Sandra’s House facilitates youth and
adult seminars and conferences
relating to the growth and maturity
of Mayan Christians. The conferences
and seminars are conducted by
experienced pastors and teachers
from the global Christian community
and include leadership and
discipleship training for pastors
and lay leaders, youth leadership
and evangelistic outreach seminars
and other ministry conferences. In
addition, the facility is available
for the use of local Christian
groups and various denominations for
their conferences.
Sandra’s House serves the Lord in
various other ways. Numerous
Christian outreach opportunities are
facilitated each year which include
short term evangelical outreach
projects and ministries, medical and
humanitarian outreach ministries and
Christian education/training
discipleship and leadership
workshops. Through the medical
outreach ministry effort, the local
hospital received an anesthesia
machine and local surgeons will now
be able to perform more complicated
surgery.
In 2005 the Mexican Division of
Operation Christmas Child
(Samaritan's Purse) asked Sandra’s
House to be the representative
distributor of Operation Christmas
Child shoe boxes in the state of
Quintana Roo. Over 5,000 shoe boxes
were distributed to Mayan children
in 2004 and in 2005-06 more than
5,800 shoe boxes were distributed.
The allotment for early 2007 will be
for about 20,000 Mayan children. The
distribution generally takes place
from January through February of
each year.
Sandra’s House is supported by
financial gifts/donations from
churches and individuals in the
central North Carolina area. Short
term mission trips teams and
individuals also donate time and
financial support to mission
outreach and spread of the Gospel.

FUTURE VISION
In the long term, the Sandra’s House
Mayan Ministry, Inc must become an
integral part of the community and
culture of the Mayans and people of
Felipe Carrillo Puerto in a way that
serves as no other similar
organization. The training of local
Mayan Christians as pastors and
church growth evangelism, Christian
youth leadership training, medical
outreach and other service and
outreach activities are the
foundation and building blocks of a
greater vision for a Christian
education, resource library and
conference center. The training and
education of these pastors will
prepare them to dig deep
theologically as well as spiritually
so that they might better
lead, grow and encourage their
congregations. They are eager to
learn as they recognize that they
are inadequately prepared to
effectively preach the Word.
A Bible College and Conference
Center associated with Sandra’s
House Mayan Ministry, Inc would be
the culmination of many ideas for
Christian ministry and outreach. A
two year degree could be offered in
various areas of specialty in
addition to pastor and leadership
training. The library could serve
and support the local Christians as
a resource. And the conference
center could provide a forum for
seminars, concerts and gatherings
for celebration. The center could
also serve as a training facility
for short term missions and outreach
teams – local Mayans and interested
Christians from the United States.
In the long term, land might be
acquired for classrooms, dormitories
and all other facilities that will
be needed to train Christians in the
ministry. A partnership with a Bible
College in the USA would be very
possible.
A Christian
school for children and youth,
associated with the Bible College,
would provide education beyond the
mandatory age of sixteen and provide
leadership training and classes in
English as a second language and
skills not taught in the typical
“technical” school.
Ultimately the Ministry and Bible
College and Conference Center must
be self-sustaining and be able to
meet the needs of the Mayan
Christians. The leadership and
assistance from the founders would
be minimized as the local Mayans
would take a more significant
leadership role in the Ministry.

BELIEFS
Sandra’s House Mayan Ministry is
established on the following beliefs
regarding our role in spiritual and
charitable outreach:
-
We believe
in the Scriptures of the Old and
New Testaments as inspired by
God and inerrant in the original
writings, and that they are of
supreme and final authority in
faith and life (2 Timothy
3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).
-
We believe
in one God, eternally existing
in three persons: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19;
John 14:10, 13, 16, 17, 26; 2
Corinthians 13:14).
-
We believe
that Christ Jesus was begotten
by the Holy Spirit, born of the
Virgin Mary, and is true God and
true man (Matthew 1:18, 23; Luke
1:35; John 17:11, 21).
-
We believe
that man was created in the
image of God; that he sinned and
thereby incurred, not only
physical death, but also that
spiritual death which is
separation from God; and that
all human beings are born with a
sinful nature; and, in the case
of those who reach moral
responsibility, become sinners
in thought, word, and deed
(Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7; Jeremiah
17:9; Ezekiel 18:4; Romans 3:23;
5:12; Ephesians 2:3).
-
We believe
that the Lord Christ Jesus died
for our sins, according to the
Scriptures, as a representative
and substitutionary sacrifice;
and that all who believe in Him
are justified on the ground of
His shed blood (Isaiah 53:6;
John 3:16; Romans 5:9, 12; 6:23;
1 Corinthians 15:3, 21; 1 Peter
2:24).
-
We believe
in the resurrection of the
crucified body of our Lord, in
His ascension into heaven, and
in His present life for us there
as High Priest and Advocate
(Luke 24:6; Acts 1:9; Hebrews
4:14; 10:12).
-
We believe
that all who receive by faith
the Lord Christ Jesus are born
again of the Holy Spirit, and
thereby, become children of God
(John 1:12-13; 3:3; 1 Peter
1:23).
-
We believe
that those who have been born
again have everlasting life and
shall not come into
condemnation, but are passed
from death unto life; and that
the Lord Jesus Christ gives unto
them eternal life and they shall
never perish, neither shall any
man pluck them out of God's hand
(John 5:24; 10:28-29).
-
We believe
that the Church is the spiritual
body of which Christ is the Head
and that it includes all who
have been born again. Its
mission is to offer acceptable
worship to God and to serve Him
faithfully by spreading the
Gospel and making disciples of
all nations. The ordinances of
the Church are baptism and the
Lord's Supper (Matthew 16:18;
28:19-20; Acts 2:41; 1
Corinthians 11:23-29; Ephesians
1:22-23; 3:10-11; 4:11-16).
-
We believe
in "that blessed hope," the
personal return of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ (John 14:3;
Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians
4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Revelation
1:7).
-
We believe
in the physical resurrection of
the body. Unbelievers shall be
eternally separated from God’s
presence to everlasting torment,
but believers shall live and
reign with Him to everlasting
glory. (Matthew 25:46; John
3:36; 5:28-29; Revelation
20:12,15).

VISION
The vision statement of Sandra’s
House Mayan Ministry is based on the
belief that all of the people in the
Mexican Yucatan region, especially
the Mayans, must have the
opportunity to hear the Good News of
the Gospel. And we are called to
fulfill the Great Commission and
Great Commandment … to seek, save
and serve the lost.
It is the VISION of Sandra’s House
Mayan Ministry that all the Mayan
people throughout the Mexican
Yucatan region hear the Good News of
the Gospel, accept salvation through
Christ Jesus, become His followers
and serve His people.

PURPOSE & MISSION
Sandra’s House Mayan Ministry
believes that to fulfill the Great
Commission everyone, including all
Mayans in the Mexican Yucatan
region, must have the opportunity to
hear and respond to the saving grace
provided through the death and
resurrection of Christ Jesus … the
Good News. And further believe that
as followers of Christ Jesus we must
adhere to the Great Commandment and
serve one another as we would like
to be served. Although the Mayan
Mexicans are the focus of the
Sandra’s House Ministry, the Gospel
is to be shared with all Mexicans
with the desire to enter the Kingdom
of God.
The PURPOSE of Sandra’s House Mayan
Ministry is to
-
Equip
Mayan Christians to become
pastors, missionaries and lay
leaders who will share the Good
News of the Gospel of Christ
Jesus and plant churches in the
Mexican Yucatan region and
-
Assist the
Mayan Christians to mature and
serve others within the local
environment and cultural
circumstances.
Sandra's House
Mayan Ministry is to equip –
prepare, develop, train and enable,
nurture and disciple, and encourage
and assist – Mayan Christians
(Ephesians 4:11, 12). And it is the
desire of Sandra’s House to
accomplish our PURPOSE with Mayan
Christians and with the assistance
of Christ-followers from Mexico and
around the world.
The PURPOSE of Sandra’s House Mayan
Ministry is established upon the
previously outlined VALUES and
expects all participating ministries
and outreach organizations to be of
like mind.
The MISSION of
Sandra’s House Mayan Ministry is to
-
Develop,
disciple and train Christian
Mayans to be pastors,
missionaries and lay leaders
-
Assist
planting and establishing
Christian churches within the
Mayan community
And further to
-
Engage the
global Christian community in
ministering to the total human
need in the Mayan communities of
the Mexican Yucatan region
-
Evoke all
the talents, treasures and gifts
bestowed on us by the Father and
demonstrate love and grace for
all people
It is desired
to have the Mayan people engaged in
the ministry and not become
“bystanders”. They must be empowered
and motivated without harming their
dignity and pride. Their values and
local cultural customs must be
valued but within a Christian
worldview.
